Operation Hope

Atlanta – November 5, 2013 – Today, Operation HOPE, the leading global financial dignity nonprofit, announced that Theo Ratliff will join the HOPE Global Financial Dignity Summit in Atlanta, on November 13 and 14. Ratliff is the founder of Theo Ratliff Foundation, an organization dedicated to creating opportunities that enrich the lives of youth globally, and President of Ratliff Enterprises, Inc. which manages a portfolio of diversified holdings in real estate, digital media, financial services, and sport & nutritional supplements.

In partnership with the City of Atlanta, the two-day summit, Global Economic Recovery: How The Poor Can Help Save Capitalism, will be moderated by Soledad O’Brien and frame the issue of financial inclusion, small business, entrepreneurship, jobs, and financial dignity as essential core ingredients to mid and long-term economic recovery and stability. It is expected to draw 1,000 of the most dynamic and influential financial industry professionals, government decision-makers and faith leaders from more than 50 countries around the world.

Prior to serving as President of Ratliff Enterprises, Theo Ratliff played 16 years with National Basketball Association (NBA) League teams including the Los Angeles Lakers. After a stellar career in the NBA, Theophalus Curtis Ratliff, better known to the public as Theo Ratliff, retired to focus on sharing more time with his family and to pursue entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors.

While playing professional basketball, Theo Ratliff has always maintained a passion for supporting youth, particularly underserved youth, to better become leaders in our communities. Compelled by his passion for youth development, he founded The Theo Ratliff Activity Center in Demopolis Alabama, a 21,685 square feet facility to provide social and educational support for the youth and adults in the community.

The annual HOPE Summit will serve also as the staging area for the gathering of commitments for business role models, business internships, youth entrepreneurship business grants, and other commitments for action in underserved communities.
